Trap shooting Season!
Trapshooting is right around the corner for me. The season starts here in a couple of weeks. This is the one club sport that i actually look forward to all year long. We dont get much publicity and encouragment from the school and town. Most dont care about the sport of trapshooting, most think its a meeting of a bunch of rednecks shooting little colored disks all day long. When actually its a lot harder than you think. It takes hand and eye coordination to hit a little orange disk thats flying through the air at more than 80 miles an hour. If we got more support from the school or town, we would probably have more people come out for this sport and that the team is not a bunch of rednecks. We have no money support from the school because we are not that important to them. They should at least give us a little something, it would make our student lives that participate in this sport alot easier. We won state four years in a row, then another two in a row. We have only had this team for about 8 years. We are just that darn good lol. All of us look out for eachother on this team, we make sure everyone is happy and having fun, while supporting them while they are shooting. Its like we have built this relationship with all of our teammates. Any other sport seems like they have their own little group of friends and disclude everyone else on that team. In trapshooting we include everyone thats what makes our team that much more special. Now at meets it can be really fun, or it can be really really really boring. If the trap range has a small club house and only fits 5 people its hard to play cards, most of the time when we are waiting around to shoot we play spoons. Someone always gets stabbed in our game of spoons, the most we have ever had play is 15 people. It was one messed up game. As the meet progresses on we watch fellow peers shoot and we talk amongst ourselfs about the shooting conditions. Meets that are on saturdays usually start about 8:30 and dont get over till about 3:00. Overall trapshooting is a great sport.

The trap shooting team at the school has been doing great. I'm not a trap shooter, but I've always been a supporter of the group especially when they had talks about cutting the program! Best of luck this year!
ReplyDeleteI hate when students say that we should drop the trap shooting team when it is the best team that we have, how many times has the trap team gone to state? Its just stupid what people say without thinking
ReplyDeleteI love trap shooting. Every time I go up to my brothers who has his own land in the country, we go and shoot guns. Shooting clays is always so fun. Exspecially when your doing well. I just think if I joined the team and did it everyday I might get bored an would like it as much as I do now.
